Gabriel Ducatenzeiler Kapp

Gabriel Ducatenzeiler Kapp is a Spanish pianist whose artistic career spans Spain and Germany. Trained in the European classical tradition, his profile combines a solid academic background with an intense concert schedule as a soloist and chamber musician.

His interpretive approach is characterized by musical rigor, expressive depth, and a clear sensitivity to the dialogue between styles, eras, and artistic contexts.

Early years and musical training

Born in 2002 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Gabriel grew up in a family of musicians, a circumstance that marked his close relationship with music from an early age. He began studying piano at the age of five with Maica Fontán, continuing with David Crespo from 2010 onwards.

From his early years, he showed a special interest in the technical and expressive development of the instrument, as well as in a broad musical education that encompassed different styles and interpretive approaches.

Artistic Development and Higher Education

Alongside his classical training, Gabriel showed an early interest in stylistic versatility, participating in summer courses in jazz improvisation at the Institute of Music Education in Salamanca and Palencia in 2018 and 2019.

Between 2019 and 2020, he studied piano with Professor José Luis Castillo Betancor and music theory with Professor Daniel Roca, thus consolidating a solid technical and theoretical foundation.

Since 2021, he has been studying for a degree in piano at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, under the tutelage of Professor Jacques Ammon. His academic training has been complemented by studies in chamber music with professors Caspar Frantz and Boris Kusnezow, as well as in lied and vocal accompaniment with professor Alexander Schmalcz.

From October 2025, he will continue his artistic development by studying for a Master’s Degree in Piano at the same institution, also under the tutelage of professor Jacques Ammon.

Master Classes and Influences

Throughout his training, Gabriel Ducatenzeiler Kapp has received significant artistic inspiration through masterclasses with renowned international pianists and teachers, including Professor Sabine Sauer, Juan Pérez Floristán, Professor Matthias Kirschnereit, Professor David Selig, Professor Are Sandbakken, and Elisabeth Leonskaja.

These experiences have contributed decisively to the development of his musical identity and an open and reflective interpretative vision.

Concert Activity

Gabriel has given concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in various cities in Spain and Germany, including Leipzig, Dresden, Potsdam, Madrid, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Among the highlights of his concert activity are piano recitals at the Paraninfo of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2022 and 2024, as well as solo concerts in the Klangpause series at the Old Town Hall in Leipzig in 2023 and 2024.

He has also participated in the performance of Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, in its version for four-hand piano, timpani, harp, and choir, alongside the Leipziger OratorienChor under the direction of Thomas Stadler.

Social Commitment and Educational Work

Since November 2023, he has been a scholarship holder at Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Leipzig, performing regularly at social institutions such as nursing homes and psychiatric centers, bringing classical music to new audiences and contexts.

Alongside his artistic activities, he is also involved in teaching. In 2024, he substituted at the Clara Schumann School of Music and Art in Leipzig, and since August 2025, he has been teaching piano at Home Music Teachers Leipzig and the Academy of Sound and Music Leipzig.
